The Majestic Arenal Volcano

Arenal Volcano is one of Costa Rica’s most iconic natural landmarks. Standing at 1,657 meters, this active stratovolcano creates a dramatic backdrop for the lodge.

Though currently in a resting phase, Arenal’s past eruptions have shaped the landscape, creating fertile soils that support a vast array of plant and animal life. Photographers can capture stunning images of the volcano from various vantage points within the lodge’s grounds, making it a perfect spot for both sunrise and sunset shots.

      • Black-crested Coquette: A small hummingbird with a distinctive black crest, commonly seen in the lodge’s gardens.

      • Yellow-eared Toucanet: A colorful and rare bird, often found in humid forests.

      • Bare-necked Umbrellabird: Recognizable by its unique appearance and loud calls, though it is endangered due to habitat loss.

      • Great Curassow: Frequently seen visiting the lodge’s bird feeders and gardens.

      • Fasciated Tiger-Heron: Often spotted fishing in the rivers around the lodge

    Flora and Fauna
